NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Privy Council has agreed to hear the appeal of a man who was sentenced to 37 years in prison for the murder of a tourist.

Anton Bastian was convicted of the 2013 murder of American Kyle Bruner, who was shot dead after he intervened in the mugging of two women.

Bastian was allegedly part of the mugging, but he didn’t shoot Bruner.

The country’s final court will determine whether the judge’s directions to the jury on joint enterprise were adequate.

The hearing will be held in 2024. Bastian is represented by Philip Rule KC and Ryszard Humes.
