NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police are investigating a deadly attack in Gambier Village after a man was found around 7 a.m. Wednesday with severe injuries to his upper body. Detectives say one person is now assisting with the case.

According to Chief Superintendent Sherry King, officers were alerted after a caller discovered the victim on Fernando Road. When police arrived, they found a man in his early thirties, a resident of the area, with multiple lacerations. Emergency Medical Services were called, but officials say the victim showed no signs of life.

Police have not identified a motive and are now following new information that came in shortly after officers arrived on the scene. They are urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact authorities immediately.

A man who identified himself as a relative told Our News the victim was Kevin Poitier. When asked about reports that Poitier’s throat may have been slit, investigators declined to confirm any specifics, but reiterated that the injuries were to the upper body.

Detectives say no theories have been ruled out as they work to understand what led to the attack. Police confirm that one individual is being questioned and is currently assisting with the investigation.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
