NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who raped a woman at Potter’s Cay before he threw her overboard has been sentenced to 10 years in prison as part of a plea deal.

Elcharrico Sherman accused of the woman of stealing drugs before he carried out the violent attack on November 11, 2019.

His naked victim clung to a boat and remained in the water for five hours before she was rescued.

However, the attempted murder charge was reduced to causing dangerous harm as part of the plea deal.

Sherman pleaded guilty to both offenses when he appeared before Justice Gregory Hilton.

He was handed concurrent sentences of 10 years for each charge.

Sherman spent three years in prison awaiting trial and this  time will be deducted from the overall sentence.
