Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Killing Girlfriend in 2023

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Juliano Dorsett confessed to killing his girlfriend in 2023 when arrested by police.

Two years later, he pleaded guilty to Yinka Strachan’s murder and received 20 years after he took a plea deal when he appeared before Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez.

Dorsett has 18 years remaining on his sentence as he will get credit for spent on remand.

According to Dorsett, he picked up Strachan on the evening of April 19 and they went driving.

They allegedly got into an argument over her cheating.

Dorsett claimed that he accidently shot Strachan in the stomach when he reached for his gun, which was on her lap.

But, according to him, she insisted that he didn’t take her to the hospital because she didn’t want him to get into trouble.

While administering first aid, Dorsett claimed that Strachan took a turn for the worse.

That’s when he shot her in the head to “end her suffering.”

He later dumped her body in the South Beach Canal.

She was found the following day.
