NASSAU, BAHAMAS -A gun-wielding robber who held up a Member of Parliament and his wife has been jailed for 14 years.

Brenville Hanna, 26, of Hanna Road, learned his fate when he appeared before Justice Neil Brathwaite for sentencing.

A jury found that Hanna was one of two men who were lying in wait when Reuben Rahming, who represented the Pinewood Constituency, pulled up at his home in Yamacraw Beach on August 13, 2021.

The robbers forced Rahming to the ground and took his watch, cellphone, and $300.

The gunmen ordered Rahming’s wife, Natasha, out of her car at gunpoint when she arrived moments later.

She was robbed of her handbag, wallet, cellphone, and $185.

The robbers fled in a gray Nissan Note. Hanna was driving a gray Nissan Note when police officers stopped the vehicle at a COVID-19 roadblock on Bernard Road.

His passenger ran from the car and evaded arrest.

Officers also recovered Mrs. Rahming’s handbag in the garbage in front of Hanna’s home.
