Man Who Sexually Abused 12-Year-Old Cousin Placed on Probation for One Year

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who sexually assaulted his 12-year-old cousin as she slept has been placed on probation for one year and ordered to complete 100 hours of community service.

The 18-year-old offender received the sentence after pleading guilty to a charge of indecent assault when he appeared before Magistrate Abigail Farrington.

His name has been withheld so that his victim can remain anonymous.

On September 28, the victim was asleep at home when she felt her hand moving. She awoke to find her cousin using her hand to masturbate himself.

The young girl told her cousin to get out of her room and reported the matter to her mother, who called the police.

The offender, a student at a church-based private school, has no previous convictions.
