NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man whose negligence caused the death of his girlfriend’s baby has been allowed to remain on bail pending sentencing.

Kirkwood Thompson pleaded guilty to manslaughter by negligence in relation to the January 16, 2023 death of Teniesha Milfort when he appeared before Justice Jeanine Weech-Gomez.

The baby received fatal injuries after she reportedly fell out of her car seat when Thompson swerved to avoid a collision.

Later that day, she became unresponsive while at home and died in the hospital.

Thompson’s lawyer, Ryszard Humes, has requested a probation report to help the court determine the sentence.
