NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man with a history of mental illness has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder.

Slade Seymour Jr, 22, stabbed Caron Thompson multiple times during a fight at a plaza on Carmichael Road on June 27, 2023.

In passing sentence, Justice Renae McKay said she took Seymour’s youth and mental history into account but she considered the heinous nature of the crime that took place in public.

McKay said she was satisfied that the prison had the resources to treat Seymour.
