NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Court of Appeal has deducted almost three years from the 10-year sentence handed to a man who raped a woman at Potter’s Cay and threw her overboard.

Elcharrico Sherman took a plea deal in the case last November and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

However, the two years, 11 months and 22 days that Sherman spent in pre-trial detention wasn’t deducted from the sentence.

Sherman filed an appeal to have his time on remand deducted from the sentence.

Sherman had accused of the woman of stealing drugs before he carried out the violent attack on November 11, 2019.

His naked victim clung to a boat and remained in the water for five hours before she was rescued.
