NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A marine is facing charges after prosecutors say he physically abused and had inappropriate sexual contact with boys attending the Ranger’s summer camp in Eleuthera.

Twenty-six-year-old Marine Seaman Yashua Cox stood before Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans charged with cruelty to children and indecent assault.

It’s alleged that between June 30 and July 19, Cox abused  seven boys, aged 11 through 19.

He allegedly forced them to drink to toilet water, forced them to masturbate and indecently assaulted two boys, ages 15 and 16.

Cox will stand trial in the Supreme Court on the allegations.

As such, he didn’t have to enter pleas to the charges when he stood before the Magistrate.

Bail was set at $15,000 on the condition that he wears an ankle monitor, checks in weekly with police and keeps a curfew of 7am to midnight.

Cox returns to court on December 8 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.

Cox made headlines earlier this year when a policeman saved his life after he was knocked down while jogging on the Milo Butler Highway in February.
