CANADA – Mark Carney was formally sworn in as Canada’s Prime Minister on Friday, March 14th, becoming the first leader in Canadian history without significant political experience.

The 59-year-old former central banker now faces the challenge of defending Canada’s trade-dependent economy amid escalating tariff threats from U.S. President Donald Trump.

Carney, who won the Liberal party leadership race in a landslide, replaces Justin Trudeau after more than nine years in office.

He is set to travel to London and Paris next week to strengthen alliances as Canada’s relations with the U.S. reach new lows.
