UNITED STATES – Five former Tennessee police officers are now charged with second-degree murder following the death of a man in a traffic stop gone bad.

29-year-old tyre Nicolls was stopped in Memphis on January 7th for reckless driving. He died three days later. The city’s police chief is calling for calm once the footage goes public.

All have been charged with second degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, official misconduct and official oppression.

The Nichols family and their lawyers privately reviewed the video footage saying he was used as a human piñata. A prominent civil rights lawyer says the last words heard on the video were Nichols calling for his mother three times.
