GLOBAL – It’s the end of an era as Skype will ring for the last time on Monday. After 20 years of changing how the world connects, Microsoft says it is shutting down the once-popular internet calling service to focus on its newer platform, Teams. Skype was a trailblazer in the early 2000s but struggled in the smartphone age and fell behind easier-to-use apps like Zoom. Microsoft says users can switch to Teams for free, with all their chats and contacts moving over automatically.
