MEXICO CITY – Migrants in a Southeastern Mexican City, crowded around cargo trains Monday, hoping for a ride to Mexico City.

Many told Reuters they’ve abandoned plans to reach the U.S. due to tough migration policies under President-Elect Donald Trump and Mexican border hurdles.

Trump, set to take office January 20, has promised to end programs easing legal entry to the U.S., including an app for scheduling asylum appointments.
