ABACO, BAHAMAS – An Abaco man is dead and police are questioning two suspects they think are behind the fatal crime.

Investigators say the 38-year-old victim was gunned down around 7 on Tuesday evening.

Police were alerted by a concerned citizen who reported hearing gunshots near latter rain way.

Responding officers found the victim lying in the road. He was shot multiple times.

Emergency medical technicians were called and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Also responding to the scene, Bahamas Christian Network reporter and well-known Abaco Pastor Silbert Mills.

Mills called this shooting, and all murders throughout the country, “a tragedy” particularly as many of the victims have been fairly young with a wealth of potential ahead of them.

He says he is hopeful that this will the first and only murder for that northern island this year..

The veteran reporter also pointed out an eery coincidence with this murder noting that the island’s first murder of 2024 occurred on the same date as the first murder for 2023 – January 16th.

He says everyone must do all they can to put an end to the violence and murders on our streets however, he says blaming the church is not the answer.

Mills says all Bahamians, including politicians, must recall that the constitution calls for an abiding respect for Christian values.

Now police have confirmed that a 50-year-old man from Spring City, Abaco, and a 29-year-old man from Marsh Harbour, Abaco were taken into custody and are assisting with the investigation.
