NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A mother who injured her teenage daughter has been ordered to undergo counselling.

The 34-year-old woman pleaded guilty to cruelty to children at her arraignment before Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans. Her name has been withheld to protect the child’s identity.

The woman’s 14-year-old daughter stayed out two hours past her 9pm curfew on April 20, prompting her mother to look for her.

The mother found her daughter dancing in the street. The upset mother started hitting her child, who was struck in the eye with a USB-cord.

The mother returns to court on July 29 for a status hearing.
