Mom Cries In Court after Judge Refuses to Suspend 9-Month Sentence

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A nursing mother broke down in tears after a judge refused to suspend her six-month prison sentence for vehicular manslaughter for nine months.

Ashanti Johnson gave birth to a boy on July 5 while awaiting sentencing for a December 11, 2022 traffic accident that killed her passenger Kendrick Moss.

Her lawyer Wellington Olander had asked for the sentence to be suspended for nine months.

While driving along the Queen’s Highway in Eleuthera, Johnson crashed into a wall and tree.

Johnson was driving without a valid driver’s license and the car was uninsured.

Johnson has been ordered to pay $10,000 compensation to Moss’ estate.
