More Bahamians Sign With MLB Teams

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Javado Bain Jr. officially became a pro on Monday evening.

The 16-year-old signed with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Standing 5’7″ with intriguing tools including a sweet swing and freakish athleticism, Bain Jr. will try to make his way through the Jays’ organization to the great north.

Bohan Adderley, a  17-year-old shortstop and third baseman was signed to the New York Mets where another Bahamian, Antoan Richardson is the first base coach.

The pair follows a trio of 17-year-olds – Trent Wilson, Edwin Darville and Tavano Baker – who all signed with the Boston Red Sox.

High School Basketball

Grand Bahama Independent Schools Association action took place over the weekend at the YMCA gymnasium in Freeport.

In game one, Bahamas Stem Academy beat Greater Heights 30-26.

Blazers Elite Academy blew out Hampton Elite 46-10 to take game 2. Bahamas Stem Institute turned a round to play the Destiny Dominators, falling 41-29 and Greater Heights won a barnburner against Hampton Academy 27-26.
