More Than 250 Under Investigation For Fraudulent Documents

NASSAU , BAHAMAS – Allegations of voter fraud took center stage in Parliament on Wednesday as Opposition Leader, Michael Pintard claimed that hundreds of people under investigation for fraudulent documents may still be on the voters register.

The claim triggered a heated exchange in the house with the government demanding proof.

“We expect him to put up or shut up”

A back and forth erupted in Parliament on Wednesday.

Opposition Leader, Michael Pintard, claimed that nearly 300 people are under investigation for receiving fraudulent documents.

His claims claimed as several people have already been charged in court this year.

Pintard also told Parliament that he has a list of 74 names.

“Eight of the names remain on the register. And we have them broken down by constituency so we have the passport number the voter id first and last name and then whether or not they are not registered.”

House Speaker, Patricia Deveaux repeatedly called on Pintard to table the list.

This sparked loud jeers from government members, who demanded he produce the evidence.

Leader of Government Business, Wayne Munroe rose on a point of order.

“He might be correct if he is suggesting that investigate investigated immigration he might be correct but he is suggesting that he has a list of active investigation. He should table it it should show who is investigating these person when it commence otherwise he’s just conjuring and it’s not a personal attack.”

Pintard pushed back saying it is their duty to expose how fraudulent documents are being obtained.

“And to hear members opposite a few of them, not all of them apoplectic is the word they like to use all of this makes me wonder about whether or not they are fine with the fact that violations are taking place and fraudulent documents are being used Madam Speaker “

The issue of fraudulent passports is one that Prime Minister Philip Davis had previously addressed, saying while concerning it does not directly impact National Security.

Our News obtained the documents later tabled in Parliament.

Pintard eventually tabled the list, after the speaker warned proceedings would not continue without it.

“Let me say this be careful how we manage these people in these entities Bahamians work in these entities I’m very good ones so don’t call these things out if you’re not willing to put up the facts.”
