UNITED STATES – Dangerous heat is impacting more than 30 million Americans across the West.

Heat alerts came in effect from Arizona to Washington over the weekend, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix are all under extreme heat warnings.

Temperatures near 90 in Seattle and well into the 90s for Portland expected to break daily records through Monday.

Record highs were set Saturday in Olympia and Eugene while Phoenix saw a record warm low of 92 degrees.

The heat is fueling wildfires including the pickett fire in Napa County burning 6800 acres and the flat fire in Oregon which has grown to 22 thousand acres.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Erin continues to kick up rough surf and dangerous rip currents along parts of the East Coast.
