NIGERIA – Nigeria’s worst reports of flooding in a decade is responsible for over 600 deaths.

More than 2 million people have been affected by country-wide flood waters with 200,000 homes either partially damaged or destroyed.

Earlier this month the National Emergency Management Agency warned of catastrophic flooding for states along the Niger and Benue Rivers over fears the reservoirs might overflow.

NEMA is reporting that excess water from a dam in neighbouring Cameroon contributed to the flooding.

A Nigerian official warns of more flooding and urged regional governments to prepare.
