NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A devastated mother wants answers after her son died after being subdued by officers at the Fox Hill Police Station on Thursday.

Our Joshua Williams caught up the mom, who identified her son as 35-year-old Lasheiko Pratt, moments after the emotional moment she identified her son’s body at the morgue.

Police told reporters at the scene yesterday that Pratt lost consciousness as officers attempted to escort him to court. But his mother isn’t buying it.

One day after her son died in police custody, his mother is speaking out in an emotional interview, saying she’s in disbelief.

The mom, who didn’t want to appear on camera, is also questioning the official police statement of how her son, 35-year-old Lasheiko Pratt passed away.

Police say the incident unfolded shortly after 10 o’clock Thursday morning, as officers went to the cell block to escort the suspect to court on burglary charges.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Anton Rahming told reporters the suspect resisted officers, allegedly telling them he did not wish to attend court, prompting officers to subdue him.

She says what makes matters worse is that she was actually at court preparing to pay his bail when she heard the news.

And what’s raising more questions for Pratt’s family is the fact that police reported that no officers were injured during the incident, and there were no visible injuries observed on the suspect’s body.

Now she left to live a life without her only son, who she says was a hard working government employee, who stayed to himself.
