NASSAU, BAHAMAS – One day after a woman was run over by a vehicle in broad daylight during a domestic dispute, National Security Minister Wayne Munroe says the incident is inexcusable.

Jasmin Brown reports.

The incident unfolded shortly after 3p.m. on Key West Street, after a man ran over a woman with a car in what police are describing as a domestic dispute.

At the scene, Assistant Superintendent of Police Audley Peters said the man was taken into custody and the woman was alive and “appeared to be coherent” when emergency medical services took her away from the scene.

Police also confirmed that the pair had been arguing before the incident took place. Surveillance footage that reportedly shows the incident has made the rounds on social media.

The incident comes amid heightened national concern over violence in the home after a four-year-old girl was beaten to death just over a week ago.

Only days later, police reported that a man had been stabbed by his girlfriend, who suspected that he had sexually assaulted her 12-year-old daughter.
