NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 31-year-old murder suspect was on Friday sentenced to 36 months for gun possession.

Officers arrested Godfrey Minnis on March 21, 2022 on suspicion of the murder of Bertram Moss at Rupert Dean Lane.

Following his arrest, Minnis allegedly led the officers to a Nissan Pathfinder that was parked across the street from his home at Number 49 Rupert Dean Lane.

The officers found a 9mm pistol with four rounds of 9mm ammunition concealed in a styrofoam covered plate underneath the car.

Gun Court Magistrate Lennox Coleby convicted Minnis of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition following a trial.

During his testimony, Minnis denied leading the officers to the gun—a claim that the magistrate rejected as untruthful.

Minnis has been on remand at the prison since March 28, 2022.

On that date, he was sentenced to six months in prison for damaging an ankle bracelet.
