NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man who picked up a second murder charge while on bail for murder will remain in custody.

Justice Cheryl Grant-Thompson rejected a bail application for Randy Mackey, who’s charged with the July 2 murder of Garath Pyfrom and the and the attempted murders of PC 3767 Shaquille Sweeting and PC 4548 Rashard Rolle.

The officers were attending a pool party at the South Beach Mansion on Marshall Road when they heard gunshots in the parking lot.

When the officers identified themselves, they were shot in their hands by the fleeing gunmen. Pyfrom’s bullet-riddled body was found in bushes the following day.

Mackey was on bail for the 2021 murder of Renardo Morley when prosecutors allege that he reoffended.
