NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Murders are up by double digits in the latest police statistics revealed during a Rotary Club of Nassau meeting. Italia Hall who has a breakdown of the figures reports the commissioner of police is pledging crime fighting efforts to stop the numbers from reaching 100 before the end of the year. 

Commissioner of Police Clayton Fernander telling the rotarians that there have been 85 murders so far this year, adding that it’s a 21% increase compared to 2021.

When it comes to who is being killed, Fernander says there is a growing trend of men being executed after being released on bail.

The police chief also says stolen vehicles are being used to carry out the deadly crimes.

As it relates to guns, Fernander says police are working with their U.S. partners to resolve the issue.
