NACAC Goes Into Its Second Day

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – State Minister Leon Lundy delivered the keynote address at the opening ceremony for the NACAC Games in sunny Freeport, Grand Bahama.

In his address, Minister Lundy touted the elite talent from The Bahamas and the rest of the Americas on display, and Bahamians proved his point, turning in strong performances.

Anthonique Strachan won the 200m, running 22.77 seconds. Camille Rutherford came fourth, finishing in 23.28 seconds.

Kaiwan Culmer won the triple jump with a leap of 16.56 meters.

Kendrick Thompson placed second in the decathlon with a score of 7,515 points. Kenny Moxey was third with 6,412 points.

National and NCAA record holder Rhema Otabor came second in the javelin with a heave of 53.70 meters, with Dior-Rae Scott right behind her with a 48.49-meter throw.

Ian Kerr placed fourth in the 200m finals, finishing in 20.71 seconds.

And in the finale, the Bahamas team of Gregory Seymour, Katrina Seymour-Stamps, Andrew Styles, and Javonya Valcourt won silver in the mixed 4×400 meter relay in 3:18.93 seconds.


Team 242 Takes Down Nicaragua in Basketball Showdown

Team 242 took down Nicaragua 95-77 on their home court at the Polideportivo Matagalpo in Nicaragua.

Our guys fell into a 10-7 hole early before hitting overdrive, finishing the first half with a 44-30 lead.

They didn’t let up in the second half, coasting to the easy win.

Franco Miller Jr. was the leading scorer for Team 242. The scoring guard out of Grand Bahama had 25 points to lead the team.

Isaiah Mobley had 11 and also contributed with stifling rim protection.
