Nearly 200 People In $2.7 Billion Health Care Fraud Schemes Charged

UNITED STATES – The U.S. Justice department announced Thursday nearly 200 people were charged in a nationwide health care fraud crackdown involving over $2.7 billion in false claims.

Attorney General Merrick Garland revealed doctors, nurse practitioners, and others across the U.S. are accused of various scams, including a $900 million scheme in Arizona.

Two wound care company owners, allegedly billed medicare fraudulently for amniotic wound grafts.

The crackdown, spanning about two weeks, also targeted phony sober living homes for Native Americans.
