NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Ministry of Works making a significant investment in equipment that they say will address road repair issues and flooding. In this report, the minister of works and a senior engineer explain how it will all work.

It’s been described as a turning point for the Ministry of Works. Minister of Works Alfred Sears says this is the first time in 20 years that the ministry has purchased a large amount of equipment to address the issues of road development and flooding.

The investment worth thousands of dollars will help maintain public infrastructure across the country. The works minister confirming the equipment will be deployed in the necessary areas immediately.

Also, to assist with the pace of work 25 additional employees were hired.

The ministry also acquiring mobile flood mitigation equipment valued at $700,000.

Senior Drainage Engineer at the Ministry of Works, Henry Moxey giving the media a first-hand look at the equipment which he says can be deployed wherever the need arises.

As for their plan of action: to target the most problematic areas in New Providence.
