UNITED STATES – A new U.S. government study shows early-onset cancers diagnosed in people aged 15 to 49 are increasing.

The study found the biggest jumps in breast, colorectal, kidney, and uterine cancers.

The data, covering over 2 million cases from 2010 to 2019, reveals 63% of these cancers were found in women.

Breast cancer led the rise with nearly 5,000 more cases than expected, and experts suspect rising obesity rates and delayed childbirth may play a role.

Despite the increase in cases, death rates for most of these cancers are not rising, except for colorectal, uterine, and testicular cancers.

Researchers say more funding is needed to understand what’s driving the trend.
