NEW ZEALAND- New Zealand declaring a national state of emergency on Tuesday, as cyclone Gabrielle caused widespread flooding, landslides and huge ocean swells. The storm forcing evacuations and stranding people on roof tops.

Thousands of people were left stranded after cancelled flights, while hundreds of thousands more remained without power.

Prime Minister Chris Hipkins telling a news conference on Tuesday, “The severity and the breadth of the damage” that New Zealanders are seeing ” has not been experienced in a generation.”

He says Australia and Britain have pledged support.
