NORTH KOREA – North Korea claims to have successfully tested a new Hypersonic Missile, with leader Kim Jong Un calling it a major military achievement.

State media says the missile traveled over 930 miles at 12 times the speed of sound, hitting a target at sea. Kim insists the weapon is for self-defense and aims to strengthen the country’s nuclear deterrent.

South Korea disputes the test’s success, saying the missile fell short of Pyongyang’s claims.

The launch coincided with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to the region, where he condemned the test as a violation of U.N. Resolutions.
