GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Grand Bahama’s New Year’s Day Junkanoo parade has been dubbed a huge success by officials after hundreds of residents and visitors showed up to see nine Junkanoo groups perform.

Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper taking in all of the excitement and entertainment on Pioneers Way Monday evening. The DPM says the parade is an opportunity for Bahamians to share their culture.

Minister Of Youth, Sports and Culture Mario Bowleg attending the GB parade for the first time and he says he is pleased with the parade, and next year, the ministry will look at providing more seating for spectators.

President of the Grand Bahama Port Authority Ian Rolle also got a first had look at the parade, as the National Junkanoo Committee praised the parade as a success.
