NASSAU, BAHAMAS – With five days left until the Boxing Day Junkanoo Parade, Junkanooers have kicked it into high gear and they’re all confident in a win, especially the One Family Warriors.

One Family Warriors are the defending Boxing Day champs. It’s a title Chairman Christine ‘Muffin’ Fernander says the group intends to hold on to.

This year the group is paying homage to the rich history of Junkanoo and its legends with its theme.

One Family earned first place after sweeping five categories last year with 92.73 points. The Valley Boys came in a close second with 92.48 points.

This year, One Family says there are some costumes to look out for and according to designer Shantz Collymore, they plan to stand apart.

The costumes and lead pieces won’t be the only things taking spectators back in time.

As the co-chair tells us, the music section will also serve Junkanoo fans with a blast from the past.
