Twenty-four-year-old Darrinique Johnson and 28-year-old Akeem Turnquest faced charges of causing grievous harm to Kyrie Turnquest.

Prosecutors allege the parents caused harm to Kyrie between July 2025 and December 2025 and January 2026 to February 2026.

Kyrie died at his home in Sunshine Park on February 21.

They denied the allegations at their arraignment before Magistrate Abigail Farrington, and bail was set at $7,000 each.

The accused will have to wear ankle bracelets and check in at a police station during their trial, which is set for May 27.
