NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Office of the Prime Minister is flatly denying allegations made by Free National Movement Leader Michael Pintard that a bag of Bahamian passports was discovered onboard a Bahamasair flight “heading south,” triggering an internal probe and subsequent firings.

Pintard made the explosive claim during the FNM’s “Rally in the Alley” in Golden Isles, where he called on the government to explain whether a wider scheme was at play.

Pintard told supporters an investigation was launched after “unaccompanied passports” were allegedly found on a Bahamasair aircraft, a discovery he suggested led to people being terminated.

However, within minutes of his speech, OPM pushed back.

Communications Director Latrae Rahming said the Commissioner of Police, Chief Passport Officer, Bahamasair’s Managing Director and Chairman all confirmed that no such incident occurred, no report exists, and no employee has been dismissed.

Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell also weighed in, assuring the public that passport security remains a top priority.

Despite the strong denial, Pintard doubled down, insisting terminations followed the alleged matter and questioning the government’s silence.

The back-and-forth comes as political tensions rise ahead of the Golden Isles by-election set for November 24.
