Over 100 New Recruits Join RBDF

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The military moving closer to its aim of a 3,000 strong army with some 109 new entry recruits officially joining the ranks of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force today.

An official ceremony taking place this morning at the Coral Harbour base.

It was a morning filled with displays of musical talent, marching, physical exercise and a weapons drill, as comrades and well wishers gathering to support the newest members of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

Acting National Security Minister, Jomo Campbell, congratulating those who decided to answer the call.

Commodore Raymond King says today’s exercise adds to the military’s compliment as the force is aiming for a strength of some 3,000 officers to adequately serve throughout the country.

New entry 59 and women’s entry 28, making up a total compliment of 77 men and 32 women, the largest intake of women in a mixed entry in the history of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.

The new recruits were presented with certificates and special awards. And, in the end, reciting the marines creed making their journey to the force official.
