PALESTINE – Palestinians in Gaza City protested on Tuesday, after Israel’s parliament approved a new law making the death penalty a default sentence for Palestinians convicted of deadly attacks in military courts.

The measure fulfills a key promise by Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right allies.

Critics say the law would apply mainly to Palestinians and not to Jewish Israelis convicted of similar crimes.

The legislation comes as Israel continues to face global scrutiny over its war in Gaza, and rising violence in the occupied West Bank.
