NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Court of Appeal has reduced an armed robber’s sentence to 15 years.

Rollins Rolle was initially sentenced to 18 years in prison for the 2021 armed hold-up of Stephon Laguerre, who was robbed his Honda Accord and iPhone by a lone gunman while in the area of KFC in Oakes Field.

Two days after the robbery, on May 24, 2021, police officers saw a green car parked in front of Rolle’s Wilson Tract home that matched the description of the stolen vehicle.

The officers contacted Laguerre. When he arrived, Laguerre said the car was his and he identified Rolle as the robber. He said that Rolle was wearing the same slippers that he had on at the time of the robbery.

Rolle’s lawyer Terrel Butler appealed against both the conviction and sentence.

The three judge panel of Justices of Appeal Milton Evans, Deborah Fraser and Gregory Hilton upheld the conviction, but reduced the sentence because Rolle was 22 when the crime was committed and he had no prior convictions.
