NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Rishaad Collie Stands front and center of Shaad Collie and The Vips, a band that is making waves with its sound.

Rishaad Collie started on the recorder, as most kids do, and his passion for music grew from there, taking him on a journey through brass and percussion instruments until he settled on the guitar.

Along the way, the young guitarist learned that his grandfather Al Collie had a successful band and created iconic entertainment venues like the palace and the zoo that showcased other local bands

Despite his grandfather’s legacy, Rishaad credits his father for inspiring him to bring this band to life.

Rishaad’s early influences shine through in the band’s performances – they play a little of everything, including rake and scrape, soca, and jazz.

While the international influence is evident, he also credits hometown rake and scrape juckin’ legends for contributing to his sonic identity.

The vips recently won the Carnival Bahamas Battle of the Bands, and Rishaad says the band’s unique sound helped it edge out the competition.

Shad and the Vips work with many local artists, like Fanshawn, Blaudy, and D-Mac.

Now that the competition is out of the way, the band will release a slew of singles to cement themselves as a household name.

Follow the band on social media at Shaad Collie & The Vips and listen for the vip sound.
