NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – There could be an election very soon according to PLP Chairman Fred Mitchell.
Today the prime minister weighed in, adding fuel to the speculation.
Saying it’s perhaps time for him to “shine up the bell”, signaling an election is looming.
“Boy sound like I need to shine da bell up. I gatta go in the closet and find it and shine it up get ready to ring it.” – Prime Minister Philip Davis

The crowd chanted “two straight” fueling speculation that an election will be called soon.
In an audio message to party supporters, party chairman Fred Mitchell, says voters could expect an election soon.
“ Ladies and gentlemen, this is a country that is facing a general election in the next few weeks. Uh, and it’s likely that the election campaign is going to heat up and the Bahamian people will be asked shortly, who should govern them for the next five years? By any reckoning, that should be the PLP administration.” – PLP Chairman Fred Mitchell
But what exactly does a “few weeks” mean? The prime minister, brief in his answer to reporters.
“Stay tuned. All I can say is that elections would be soon. That’s all I’m prepared to say.” – Prime Minister Philip Davis
The PLP, launching their political campaign a few weeks ago, asking voters to “Choose Progress”.
Davis says he’s confident voters will give them another chance.
“Well you expect that we will be promoting our messsge showing what our record has been and what we intend to do going forward. When I reflect on the last 4 years it’s a lot and I’m proud of the accomplishments but we want to ensure it’s been impactful.” – Prime Minister Philip Davis
A key race to watch – the PLP’s Sebastian Bastian facing off with the Free National Movement’s Travis Robinson in Fort Charlotte.
Robinson, who’s been critical of Bastian’s campaigning, saying Fort Charlotte is not for sale.
Bastian says he’s a better choice for a MP.
