NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prime Minister Philip Davis said the events planned in observance of Hurricane Dorian will be “more of a commemoration.”

“It’s not a celebration for me,” the prime minister told our Jerome Sawyer following a Weather Symposium in Abaco today.

The prime minister’s comments come as many have questioned the rationale behind the government’s position.

Press Secretary in the Office of The Prime Minister Clint Watson told the media yesterday that this is the first time in three years that the government has recognised Hurricane Dorian on a national level.

Events are planned to be held in Abaco, Grand Bahama and New Providence.
