NASSAU, BAHAMAS – As uncertainty looms over the state of the National Insurance Board fund, Economic Affairs Minister Michael Halkitis says the prime minister will make an announcement next week.

It comes after the Budget Communication Wednesday where nothing was mentioned about the state of the fund or a plan for the way forward.

The prime minister did however say there will be no increase in taxes for Bahamians.

Minister Responsible Myles Laroda says the national insurance fund would lose $95 million if there is no increase.

We put the question to Halkitis during this week’s OPM press briefing.
