NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A police corporal remains in custody after investigators obtained an extension authorizing them to detain him beyond 48 hours. 

The corporal was arrested in connection with the December 3 murder of 43-year-old Jason Whitfield.

The senior clerk at the Passport Office was found shot multiple times in his government issued car in Garden Hills.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department arrested the corporal while he was on-duty at the South Street Magistrates’ Complex on Monday, December 5.

Police have since arrested a 25-year-old relative of the officer, in relation to the incident
