HAITI – Haitian police officers protested Monday, calling for better protection after a Kenyan officer was killed by gang members.

Police Union leader Garry Jean Baptiste urged government to take insecurity seriously, as gangs control 85% of Port-Au-Prince.

The Prime Minister has pledged to invest in police equipment, calling the crisis a war against gangs.

Kenya has sent hundreds of officers to support Haiti’s struggling security forces, alongside personnel from Jamaica, Guatemala, and El Salvador.
