NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The owner of a popular sushi restaurant is behind bars after prosecutors say he shot a man this week.

Reno Poisson, the 30-year-old owner of Okiniiri Sushi and Seafood Haven at the Mall at Marathon, is facing charges of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Prosecutors allege that on January 25 Poisson tried to kill Paul Newchurch when he allegedly shot him in the arm at East Street South.

Poisson is also accused of endangering Newchurch’s life while armed with a firearm.

Poisson was not required to enter pleas to the charges when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley.

He’s back in court on May 21 to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
