UNITED STATES- The Powerball Jackpot has soared to a staggering $1 billion just in time for Labor Day weekend. Officials bumped the estimate Friday morning after ticket sales skyrocketed nationwide.

The last jackpot winner was back in May, but since then more than 600 players have scored big with prizes of $50,000 or more.

Saturday night’s drawing is set for 10:59 Eastern Time, live from Florida.

While the odds of hitting the jackpot are 1 in 292 million, that hasn’t stopped hopefuls from lining up for a chance at becoming America’s next billionaire.
