NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Following that landmark ruling from the Privy Council, one kings council says the ruling from the country’s highest court shows there’s a competent bench of judicial officers in The Bahamas.

The Privy Council upheld a decision by now Chief Justice Ian Winder.

The decision says a child born out of wedlock to a Bahamian man and a foreign woman is a Bahamian at birth.

We asked former Attorney General Allyson Maynard Gibson if there is still a need for the Privy Council.
