Probe Launched Into Jamaican Man’s Early Release

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Internal Affairs Department of the Bahamas Department of Corrections is probing how a Jamaican national was released and deported with a pending case before the Magistrate’s Court. 

An investigation has been launched into how a Jamaican national was released from the department of corrections and deported with another pending case before the court. 

National Security Minister Wayne Munroe explains the Jamaican man went to two courts – one for a firearm offense and the other for overstaying. 

Munroe says the Internal Affairs Department is looking to see if the release was intentional or a slip in the process. 

But as the probe continues, Munroe says they’re already discussing ways to prevent this from happening again. 

But will efforts be made to bring him back to answer to the allegation?

The incident bringing the process at the BDOCS into question. 

We asked the minister if he believes the process needs to be tweaked. 

To that, the minister responsible suggests there’s a need for modernization.
