NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Labour Minister Keith Bell says the investigation followed a number of complaints from employees at the Atlantis Resort.

A few weeks back Atlantis’ President and Managing Director Audrey Oswell urged staff to take a stand in relation to Royal Caribbean International’s proposed $100 million Beach Club project on Paradise Island.

Bell says employees feel attempts were made to intimidate them.

Labour officers went to the resort on Tuesday.

In a statement Atlantis said, it has never opposed or pressured our team members to oppose royal Caribbean’s proposed Paradise Island project.

It said the sole focus is to ensure that Royal Caribbean’s development undergoes environmental due diligence and that the natural beauty of paradise island and the vitality of The Bahamas remain protected.

Meanwhile Bell says it’s important to ensure employees are protected.

While saying he could not say much as the investigation continues, bell was asked what happens if found that there was wrongdoing.
